Rotherham walking festival kicks off

PEOPLE in the borough have the chance to put their best feet forward during April with several events taking place during Walking for Health in Rotherham Month.

The walks include Click on the Wild Side, an informative walk around Thrybergh Country Park tomorrow at 10.30am, with walkers reminded not to forget their cameras and to meet at Thybergh Country Park Visitors Centre.

Also tomorrow, between 12.30am and 2.30pm, there is Toddlers Toddle & Teddy Bears Picnic, where you can grab your picnic and go for a toddle around Barkers Park.

Walkers should meet at Chislett Community Centre on Kimberworth Park Road.

The mini-walking festival also includes a leisurely stroll around Ulley Country Park on Tuesday, April 16, from 10.30am to noon, meet at the park’s reception, more details available from Simon Dungworth on 07401 447947.

The Saturday, April 20, walk is a family one of approximately three miles, to be followed by refreshments, noon to 2pm, meet at Chislett Community Centre and find out more by sending an email to the [email protected] address.

The final walk is on Sunday, April 28, and is a three-mile History and Archaeology Walk around Wath Wood and Swinton Rockingham Pottery, starting at 10.30am from Wath Wood hospital driveway, for more details contact Cllr Ken Wyatt, 01709 583073.
