Rotherham trains disruption continues after vandalism

TRAIN services continued to be disrupted this morning (Wednesday) at Rotherham Central after vandalism yesterday.

Services were still being diverted between Meadowhall and Swinton following the attempted theft of signalling cables.

A Northern Rail spokesman said: “Staff are working to repair the damage. At this time services are unable to call at Rotherham Central, they will however operate as usual at all other stations as they can divert via an alternative route.

“Customers travelling to or from Rotherham Central are advised that replacement road transport is operating an hourly service between Meadowhall, Rotherham Central and Swinton in both directions.”

The disruption was expected to last until at least 9am.
