Rotherham teenager seriously hurt as car careers out of control

A 19-year-old woman was taken to hospital with serious injuries after a car crash in Parkgate.

The passenger, from Swinton, suffered a fractured pelvis and suspected fracture to her lower back.

Police said a blue Peugeot 106 had been travelling Mangham Road towards Greasbrough Hill on Thursday night.

The driver, a 17-year-old male from Swinton, is believed to have lost control near the Scrooby Lane junction.

The car mounted the kerb, crossed a footway and grass verge and collided with a bridge parapet before landing upside down in a water course.

The driver and another 19-year-old woman passenger, from Swinton, suffered slight injuries.

Witnesses are asked to call South Yorkshire Police on 101 quoting incident 1113 of January 24.
