Rotherham school cuts short London trip after Westminster terror attack

A GROUP of schoolchildren who were caught up in the Westminster terror attack will return home today — a day earlier than originally planned.

Around 85 year five pupils from Herringthorpe Junior School were on a visit to the Houses of Parliament when terror unfolded on the streets of the capital on Wednesday.

Mandy Adams, head of school, said the school had taken the decision to cut short the trip and children would be returning home today (Thursday).

In the attack, a man drove along a pavement in Westminster, knocking down pedestrians, leaving dozens injured.

He then stabbed a policeman and was shot dead by police in the grounds of Parliament.

Metropolitan Police Acting Deputy Commissioner and Head of Counter Terrorism Mark Rowley said those who died included a woman in her 40s, a man in his 50s, the attacker and PC Keith Palmer.
