Rotherham man hurt in M1 crash

Police are appealing for witnesses following a two-vehicle collision on the M1 on Friday evening which left a 28-year-old Rotherham man with serious head and neck injuries.

A red Vauxhall was approaching the exit slip road for Junction 33 on the southbound carriageway when the driver apparently lost control in the inside lane and the vehicle span sideways into approaching traffic.

A blue BMW 320 then collided with the nearside of the red Vauxhall, around 300 metres from the exit slip road.

The collision happened just before 8.20pm.

A rear passenger in the red Vauxhall, the 28-year-old Rotherham man, was taken to Rotherham General Hospital and detained with serious head and neck injuries.

The driver, a 28-year-old Rotherham woman, was also taken to hospital for treatment to slight foot injuries and later released.
