Rotherham furniture warehouse hit by blaze

FIREFIGHTERS tackled a large warehouse blaze in Rotherham last night.

Crews were called to the incident at Don Street in Westgate at 6.30pm and eight engines were still there three hours later.

The warehouse, used to store flat-pack furniture, was well alight when they arrived.

Residents living nearby were advised to keep doors and windows closed because of the large amount of smoke.

A fire service spokesman said last night: "It is currently too early to establish how the fire started, but a fire investigation will follow in due course."
