A ROTHERHAM man who played a key role in a major illegal operation to supply cutting agents for Class A drugs has been jailed for eight years by a court in Kent.

The jury took nearly three days of deliberations to reach their verdict.

Another Rotherham man, Zakir Hussain (29), of Ferham Road, Rotherham who had also denied assisting in the supply of controlled drugs, was cleared on Monday.

As he jailed Sadique, Judge Jeremy Gold QC told him: “You and others have to understand that the proliferation of these drugs is a cancer in our society.

“You you have played a prominent part in the supply.”

The judge said that Sadique was running a business supplying cutting agents for drugs and it was a feature of the case that he had received a letter from the Serious and Organised Crime Agency in 2009 making it “crystal clear” that he was under close supervision and he was committing a potentially serious criminal offence.

“You not only ignored that letter, you escalated your trading in these chemicals,” said the judge.

Sadique, who was on trial with five other defendants, was among three men and a woman jailed for a total of 24 years.

Co-accused Ty Ripley, of Sittingbourne, was convicted of assisting in the supply of drugs and possession of class C drugs with intent to supply and was jailed for six-and-a-half years.

Raymond Heather (52), of Whitstable, Kent, and his partner, Tracey McCarthy (50), who were convicted of conspiracy to supply cocaine, were jailed for six years and three-and-a-half years respectively.
