ROTHERHAM voters will be asked to go to the polls on November 29 to choose disgraced ex-MP Denis MacShane’s successor.

ROTHERHAM voters will be asked to go to the polls on November 29 to choose a successor for disgraced ex-MP Denis MacShane (right), who resigned his seat on Tuesday.

The by-election was announced after the writ was moved in Parliament this morning.

Wentworth and Dearne MP John Healey said: “I want to see the strongest possible contenders and the shortest possible period before people in central Rotherham elect their new MP.

“I'm working with Denis's staff to make sure we can give full support to constituents who need help or information during the gap before a by-election.”
