Rotherham businesswoman's outstanding contribution award

A MULTI-talented businesswoman has added another award to her collection of titles after she was officially recognised for services to the security industry.

Julie Kenny, managing director of Hellaby based Pyronix, was given her Outstanding Contribution award at the 2010 PSI Premier Awards.

She said: “It is a great honour to be recognised for the work you do for the advancement of your industry.

“For the last 18 years, I have been striving within the British Security Industry Association to improve standards and efficiencies, primarily within the manufacturing sector of the Industry, but also for the wider industry which is vitally important to the safety, security and economic prosperity of the country.”

Julie has been a Director the BSIA since 1992 and is due to be installed as the association chairman next month, becoming the first woman to take this role.

She was the first female president of the Rotherham Chamber of Commerce, received a CBE in 2002 for services to industry in Yorkshire and Humberside and became a Deputy Lieutenant in 2005.

Julie received an honorary doctorate from Sheffield Hallam University in 2006, is a director on Yorkshire Forward, is on the board of Creative Sheffield and is a commissioner of the UK Commission for Employment and Skills. 

She added to her impressive list of roles within the community when she became chairman of governors at Maltby Academy earlier this year.
