Rotherham attack probe: man charged

A MAN has appeared in court following an alleged attack in Kimberworth Park which has left his 44-year-old neighbour critically ill in hospital.

Martin Tyler (56) of Lapwater Walk appeared at Rotherham Magistrates’ Court today to answer a charge of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

Paramedics were called on Sunday evening to council flats on Lapwater Walk, where they found a man unconscious and with “serious head injuries,” a police spokesman said.

Forensic officers cordoned off a flat and combed the surrounding area for evidence on Monday.

Police have not yet named the victim, who was still in a critical condition at Royal Hallamshire Hospital on Tuesday morning.

They urge anyone with information to contact police on non-emergency number 101 quoting incident number 1278 of Sunday, August 5.
