Roadworks near Swinton railway station

COMMUTERS have been warned to expect delays as roadworks are carried out near Swinton railway station.

Lime Grove will be resurfaced as part of Rotherham Borough Council’s £10 million 2020 Roads Programme from Monday, March 20.

Colin Knight, the council’s highway network group manager, said “This is a busy estate road with traffic calming measures which people use to access a primary school and a busy railway station.

“The road is heavily used and so it’s become necessary to carry out improvements to the carriageway, which will be taking place in phases.

“We have aimed to minimise disruption by carrying out the majority of road closures during school holidays, but apologise for any inconvenience caused.

“We have already been in touch with residents to let them know what is happening, but if anyone has any concerns or issues caused by the works our staff on site will be happy to try and resolve these.

“We’ll also keep everyone updated with regular updates on social media.”

The council said dates and times of road closures will be posted around Lime Grove.
