Restructuring saves a third of threatened college jobs

A RETHINK of plans to save £2.4m at Rotherham’s biggest college means that a third of the jobs in danger of being axed have been reprieved.

Seventy posts had been jeopardy at Rotherhram College of Arts and Technology as bossed grappled with the funding black hole.

But restructuring means that the number of jobs to be axed has been reduced from 70 to 46.

All the staff at risk of redundancy have been told at meeings this week.

Principal and chief executive Gill Alton said:  “While this is fewer than originally planned, I recognise the impact that this will have on people affected and we will continue to do everything we can to offer our support.”
