Response to child grooming appeal welcomed

Ms Jay, who is leading an inquiry into CSE since 1997, set up confidential email and Freepost addresses for anyone wishing to contribute to the process.

She said: “I’m pleased that some people have already taken the opportunity to make use of those channels.

“But it would be inappropriate to comment further on the number or nature of those contacts at this stage, as people need to feel confident that this process is totally confidential.”

Ms Jay, a former chief inspector of social work in Scotland, added: “Anyone who gets in touch can be assured that I will acknowledge all contact and correspondence as quickly as possible.

“However, I am not working full-time in Rotherham and therefore it will take longer on some occasions than others.”
