Recycling backlog to be cleared by Saturday

BLUE box collections are ongoing as the battle to catch-up with Rotherham’s waste collection backlog continues.

Officials from Rotherham Borough have already said that grey bin collections which were stalled by the boxing day snow flurries should be honoured by the end of the week.

But the authority is also working to clear the contents of residents’ recycling.

The locations scheduled for blue box collections today (Thursday, 8) are: Dalton; Thrybergh; Hooton Roberts; Canklow; Moorgate; Wellgate; Clifton; Herringthorpe; East Herringthorpe; Brecks; Whiston; and Broom.

The areas scheduled for blue box collections tomorrow (Friday, 9) are: Swallownest; Aughton; Aston; Todwick; Fence; Orgreave; and Whiston.

Saturday (10) will see collections at: Flanderwell; Bramley; Sunnyside; Wickersley; Brampton-en-le-Morthen; Thurcroft; Listerdale; Brecks; and Ravenfield.

Cllr Mahroof Hussain, Rotherham Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for the Environment, said: "We obviously apologise for this but all those areas listed — on the Week One schedule — will be collected by Saturday night. Week Two scheduled collections will begin on Monday, January 12."
