Tony Chapman (42), of Lindley Street, Eastwood, was jailed at Sheffield Crown Court today (Friday) after a jury found him guilty of three counts of rape.

Before the trial began, Chapman (pictured) admitted 11 counts of indecent assault involving a girl aged 13.

Reporting restrictions preventing the publication of the charges relating to the victim were lifted today.

The other two girls were also teenagers at the time of the offences — Chapman was around 20 years older.

The jury of eight women and four men also found him guilty of actual bodily harm and making threats to kill.

Chapman was convicted following an investigation by the National Crime Agency as part of Operation Stovewood.

Judge David Dixon told Chapman he would serve at least 14 years behind bars before being considered for release.

“You are a very dangerous man,” he added. “You have a particular fascination with girls of about 13 to 16, possibly 17, years of age.”
