Police's 'stay safe' goodie bags

Police are handing out goodie packs to help shoppers and commuters stay safe in the New Year.

Officers will also discuss any issues as they give out the bags at Rotherham Interchange on December 29 and 30.

The packs contain a safety alarm, mini torch, purse bells, UV marker pens and leaflets.

Sgt Matt Frogson said: “These Stay Safe gift packs are to remind people of what they can do to look after themselves and watch out for friends while enjoying the New Year celebrations.

“NHS Rotherham has provided guidance on alcohol, including a useful plastic glass which shows you just how many units are in your usual drink and we will also be encouraging people to register their mobile phones on the Immobilise.com national database.

“We want people to have fun this New Year, but to stay safe and be mindful of the issues that could lead to a far less enjoyable evening then the one they had planned.”
