Police seek van driver after fatal crash

POLICE want to speak with a van driver who stopped at the scene of a fatal traffic crash last month.

The man pulled over to help a woman pedestrian who had collided with a car on Fitzwilliam Road, Eastwood at around 8.30pm on Tuesday, December 17.

He then left in his yellow or orange Transit-type van, before emergency services arrived. The 30-year-old woman died from her injuries the next day.

Officers would like to trace him, along with a car driver who was travelling towards the town centre when the crash happened.

PC Teena Hogg said: “We are keen to speak to the driver of the van as he may have witnessed the collision or the movements of the pedestrian before the incident happened.

“I must stress that this motorist is in no way under suspicion but may be a possible witness to the tragic incident.”

She added: “The driver who was seen travelling towards town may have also seen something in their rear-view mirror as they passed the crash scene.
