Police probe 'bull-baiting' attack

A HIGHLAND bull had its ear savaged after being attacked by a dog in a Rotherham field.

Police have appealed for information about the incident on land next to Thrybergh Country Park.

Sgt Bill Bell said: “We have been reliably informed that a local man let his dog loose in the field in a deliberate act and encouraged the dog to attack the bull.

“This was apparently a large dog, which pulled the helpless bull to the ground and injured its left ear.

“The animal is not looking too good and it has needed about £400 in vets’ fees.”

The attack happened late on Friday, December 17 or early the next day.
