Police outlines plans for child abuse awareness day

ROADSHOWS and a webchat are among South Yorkshire Police’s efforts to promote tomorrow’s National CSE Awareness Day tomorrow.

The force is backing the campaign by the National Working Group to encourage people to spot the signs of child sexual exploitation.

The webchat with Assistant Chief Constable Ingrid Lee and Det Chief Insp Sarah Poolman will take place between 6pm and 8pm (18).

The Rotherham roadshows will be at Aston Service Centre today, at Morrisons in Parkgate tomorrow and Rotherham Interchange on Friday, all between 10am and 2pm.

ACC Lee said: “We are committed to tackling child sexual exploitation and have a significant number of dedicated officers involved in ongoing investigations and working to prevent abuse.

“However, we must all work better and more closely together to protect the vulnerable in our community and that includes raising the awareness of the public.”

Part of NWG’s awareness campaign involves supporters writing a pledge on their hands and posting it online with the hashtag #helpinghands.

Tomorrow’s webchat can be found at www.southyorks.pnn.police.uk/webchats.
