Police hunt after woman sexually assaulted

POLICE are hunting for a man after a woman was sexually assaulted in broad daylight.

The 25-year-old woman was walking in the direction of Denaby Cemetery, at the rear of Tickhill Square, Denaby, on Saturday (27).

As the woman walked through the area, known as Denaby Craggs, at around 2.20pm, a man is alleged to have approached her from behind and sexually assaulted her.

The man is described as white, aged around 35-years-old, 6ft tall of thin build with a short scruffy beard and spoke with a local accent.

He was wearing a dark blue/black hoody and scruffy black dirty trainers.

South Yorkshire Police is appealing for anyone to come forward who may have seen a man meeting this description in the area on Saturday.

A spokeswoman for South Yorkshire Police said: “This remains a high priority ongoing investigation and officers would like to encourage anyone to report any suspicious incidents to police.

“Officers have been conducting patrols in the area and a daily basis following reports of previous incidents.

“If you have concerns about safety whilst walking in the area, please avoid walking alone where possible.”
