Police help feathered family cross a carriageway

A feathered family trapped on a motorway had help reaching the other side from a police roadblock.

Officers halted traffic to help the birds across the M18, near J1 for Bramley, on Friday afternoon.

Staff posted pictures of the feathered female and young on the Facebook page SYP Operational Support, adding: “I’m sure you can see why we put a rolling block on for her.

“Quite a clever ducky, she could see what we were doing and hurried them all across when it was safe and even stopped for a photo opportunity.”
