Police find cannabis on driver

POLICE cracking down on vehicle crime arrested a man who failed to stop—and found he had £600-worth of cannabis.

Dearne Safer Neighbourhood Team targeted cars and vans being used for criminal or antisocial purposes.

The Thurnscoe man, in his 20s, was driving without insurance. A search of his home address uncovered the drugs stash and “a significant amount” of cash. He was bailed until June.

Nine speeding tickets were issued, another for no insurance and one for using a mobile while driving.

Pc Stuart Leadbeater said: “The operation was carried out to tackle the problem of people using vehicles for antisocial behaviour.

“Recently, we have received complaints from residents in the area regarding speeding, therefore this operation aimed to tackle both motoring offences and antisocial behaviour.”
