Police ask potential witness to come forward

POLICE officers investigating a collision are appealing for a man they believe may have witnessed the incident to come forward.

At around 2.20pm on February 6, it is reported that a green Land Rover Defender was travelling along Coaley Lane towards Wentworth.

Close to the junction with Smithey Bridge Lane, the Land Rover and a 56-year-old male pedestrian were in collision.

The man was taken to hospital where he remains in a serious but stable condition.

South Yorkshire Police said they are keen to trace a man with grey hair, believed to be in his 60s, driving a small blue hatchback, who they believe may have been travelling on the road both prior to and after the collision and may have witnessed the incident.

The 30-year-old man driving the Land Rover was not injured.
