HUNDREDS of visitors got a rare chance to go back in time at Tickhill Castle.

The Norman-built motte and bailey castle opened its doors for the only time this year on Sunday and members of the Regia Anglorum society held re-enactment shows.

People also enjoyed Norman Tickhill which showed how life was in the late Anglo-Saxon and early Norman times in the town, which was then called Dadsley.
