PHOTO GALLERY: Royal wedding fever as revellers put on street parties

SCHOOLS, care homes, families and market traders were all gripped by royal wedding fever as the nation came together to celebrate Prince Harry and Meghan Markle tying the knot.

Rotherham’s outdoor market was the scene for a well-attended knees-up organised by trader Ann Savage, of Ann’s Candy.

School pupils across the borough also got into the spirit by holding their own “street parties” on Friday to mark the big day, although there were football strips mingled with royal attire as children at Sitwell Juniors acknowledged the FA Cup final was also due to take place on Saturday.

There were crowns aplenty at East Dene Primary School, as well as homemade bunting, hampers, music and party food, and royalist Tina White, a childminder, organised her own street party for children and their families in Askam Road, Bramley.
