Pensioner cut free from car after crash

AN ELDERLY man had to be cut free from his vehicle by firefighters after a collision with another car.

Emergency services were called to Burman Road, Wath, at around 11.05pm on Friday (February 24) after a silver Vauxhall Corsa and a red Ford B-Max collided.

A South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue spokeswoman said crews from Dearne and Rotherham station had to cut free an elderly man who was trapped.

An ambulance and rapid response vehicle also attended the scene near to Sandygate and the man was taken to Rotherham Hospital.

The fire crews were at the scene for nearly an hour.
