Pedestrian suffers serious injuries after Rotherham collision

A 60-year-old pedestrian has suffered “life-altering injuries” when he was involved in a collision with a 4x4.

The injured man was walking along Fitzwilliam Road, near to the junction with Rawson Road, when he was struck by a silver Mercedes

4x4 at around 5.45pm last Thursday (7).

Police officers investigating the incident have reviewed CCTV footage from the area and have now issued an appeal for witnesses who

may have seen how the vehicle was driven prior to the collision.

A police spokesman said: “Witnesses are wanted to a rush-hour collision in Rotherham during which a 60-year-old pedestrian suffered

life-altering injuries.

“At around 5.45pm on Thursday 7 November the 60-year-old local man was in Fitzwilliam Road, at the junction of Rawson Road, when he

was in collision with a silver Mercedes 4x4 being driven by a 26-year-old man from Stockton-on-Tees.

“The pedestrian was taken to hospital with serious injuries and his condition has since deteriorated, though is not thought to be

life-threatening.”

Witnesses are being urged to contact South Yorkshire Police by dialling 101, quoting incident number 847 of November 7.
