Open day for Brampton United Junior FC

A JUNIOR football team with a new base is holding an open day on Sunday (May 10) to show off its facilities.

Brampton United Junior Football Club has taken on The Kabins which were boarded-up portable buildings that have now been renovated.

The open day will include two charity football matches.

Volunteers have been carrying out the renovation work for nothing and local businesses have stepped in to donate products and equipment.

The club offers a chance to play football for around 160 young people living within three miles of Brampton who range in age from three to 15.

The open day will take place from noon to 4pm and will be officially opened by Frank Hodgekiss, one of Cortonwood Miners Welfare Trustees who lease The Kabins to the team.

The Under 15 team is being sponsored to play against local club Valley Knights Under 16s at 12.30pm and at 2pm there is to be an adult charity game between Brampton United Junior Football Club and a team selected by local dad Luke Sykes with the cost of entry being £5 per player.

There will also be games and stalls including a penalty shoot-out, soak ya coach, tombola, raffle, basketball and a pool challenge.

Proceeds from the day will be shared between maintaining The Kabins and Jason’s Journey.
