Online health project to help families live longer

ROTHERHAM families will be able to stay better informed about their health after the launch of a £3m on-line health records project.

Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust is part of a consortium which has been given the money to implement a project called Year Zero, which will include a digital record for parents to record the health of the children and plot their family’s health tree.

There will also be a social networking tool to connect friends, carers and health professionals.

The initiative is part of a programme called Dallas--Delivering Assisted Living Lifestyle At Scale--which was launched by universities and science minister David Willets this week.

Ian Gray, Chief Executive of the Technology Strategy Board, said: “It will allow the wider community, including professionals, to work together so that all of us can live longer and more rewarding lives.

“Dallas is our way of helping the UK to rethink the future, and support older adults living healthy, active and independent lives for longer - how they want and where they want.

“The programme that the winning consortia will embed into local communities over the next three years is the next step in making this vision a reality.”

There are four consortia delivering and testing the programme across the UK. They have added their own financial support to £25 million of Government money.
