Onariase outlines commitment to Rotherham
Millers new man Manny Onariase

NEW Rotherham United recruit Manny Onariase isn't just buying into the club. He's buying into the town, too.

The 20-year-old former West Ham centre back signed for an undisclosed fee today on a two year contract from Championship club Brentford.

It is the first time Onariase, who had a loan stint at Cheltenham last season, has moved away from his London home permanently, but is ‘100 per cent committed’ to the Millers and the town of Rotherham.

He told the Advertiser: “I think with anything I do in life, not just football, I give 100 per cent.

“Once I want to do something I'm committed 100pc so the fact the club has agreed to take me I'm 100pc committed to the club and the area and everything.”

Boss Paul Warne was pleased to finally land the defender he has been courting for a number of weeks.

He said: “We had him in for a week and we were considering taking him on loan but didn't think that initially he would get in my team so I didn't see the point in bringing him up. But as a full signing, he will be a good centre-half in years to come.

“He's at the right age, an age where he can improve. I'm trying to get players who are going to be here for two, three, four years.”

Meanwhile, Tunisian defender Aimen Belaid has had his Rotherham contract terminated by mutual consent.
