Obesity institute sets out its stall!

FRESH fruit all the way from RIO is on the menu for healthy-eating Rotherham foodies.

The Rotherham Institute for Obesity has teamed up with grocers KD Davis & Sons to have a fruit and veg stall in the town centre to promote healthy eating and the town's award-winning healthy weight management services.

The Mayor and Mayoress of Rotherham, Cllr Dave Pickering and Mrs Sue Pickering, officially opened the RIO market stall on Tuesday.

This is the first time that the RIO has worked with a high street grocer, the council and NHS, to provide a health promotion message direct to the public in their own town centre.

Visitors to the stall — which will be open every Tuesday — will also be able to pick up tips on “five-a-day”, a healthy lifestyle, physical activity and RIO’s services for those adults or children needing help to achieve a healthy weight.
