OAP seriously hurt in collision

AN 82-year-old man suffered serious head injuries in a collision with a reversing car.

The pensioner was walking along Elm Tree Road, Maltby, at around 10am on Saturday when he was knocked to the floor in the by a red Ford Fiesta.

The car was reversing on waste land when the incident occurred.

It went on to collide with a wooden fence and a detached concrete garage.

A police spokesman said: “A car parked inside the garage is thought to have been pushed, along with the concrete garage, and stopped several metres from a nearby house.”

The pedestrian, an 82-year-old local man, was taken to Rotherham General Hospital with serious head injuries and cuts to his arms.

The driver of the Fiesta, a 52-year-old woman from Tickhill, was not hurt.
