Nine years in jail for ex-taxi driver who raped teenage girl

A FORMER taxi driver has been jailed for nine years for raping a teenage girl in Rotherham 15 years ago.

Asghar Bostan (47,pictured), of East Bawtry Road in Whiston, was convicted by a jury at Sheffield Crown Court this afternoon of two counts of rape.

He was sentenced to nine years for each offence, to run concurrently, and had a restraining order imposed on him.

His victim, a woman who cannot be named for legal reasons, had the the court Bostan twice attacked her at a flat at a house in Wagon Road, Greasbrough, in or around 2003.

Bostan had told the girl, who had been groomed by a neighbour, would take her to the cinema but raped her after plying her with alcohol.

She said in a victim impact statement that she had been made to feel “dirty and unworthy”.
