NHS: Kick smoking and save a packet

HEALTH bosses are advising people to get health concious by kicking the habit—and saving a packet.

NHS Rotherham’s Stop Smoking Service is encouraging patients, visitors and staff to get rid of the cigarettes and save up to £2,000 a year with their help.

The service, which runs sessions across Rotherham, helps thousands of smokers to quit every year.

Stop Smoking Specialist Zahra Ellis concoded that quitting was tough but pointed out that help was at hand.

“It can be really difficult for some people, but we can give support and advice to help them along the way,” she said.

“It will also help to save them a packet as the average 20 a day smoker spends £167.29 per month on cigarettes– that works out at over £2,000 a year."

Anyone can use the service without an appointment and the service’s base at the walk-in health centre on Greasbrough Road in the town centre is open Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm.
