BUILDING work has begun on seven homes in Rawmarsh—which will replace outdated bungalows which were demolished last year.

The seven two- and four-bedroom homes on Mahon Avenue will be available for rent later this year.

Cllr Shaun Wright, ward member for Rawmarsh, said: “I am delighted that work has now begun to build these much needed affordable homes in Rawmarsh for local people currently on our housing waiting list.

“The authority chose major housing association Home Group to develop the homes for us and they have come up with a high quality, energy efficient housing scheme. This will minimise running costs for the new residents.”

Home Group development director Ian Clyde said: “This is the second home development for the area and we are making excellent progress helping to regenerate the Rawmarsh neighbourhood in partnership with the borough council.”

The scheme will cost just under £1 million, including funding from the Homes and Communities Agency.
