MP inspects school's eco-extension

WENTWORTH MP John Healey went back to school to see how a £2.4 million windfall has paid for eco-friendly new buildings.

Mr Healey took a tour of Rawmarsh Monkwood Primary School, which has a new area has a main entrance, classrooms and staff accommodation all aimed at being as carbon neutral as possible.

It has a green roof featuring soil, grass and plants, natural ventilation—with windows automatically opening and close according to carbon emissions—and an energy efficient heating system.

Children are also learning more about nearby nature with a new pathway into the neighbouring wood.
