Motorway death probe

A MAN was found dead in a car down an embankment off the M1 on Monday afternoon

A lorry driver spotted the black Seat Leon near the slip road which rejoins the motorway southbound from Woodall Services.

A police spokeswoman said: “When emergency services arrived the 42-year-old male driver, from Eckington, was found in the car and was unresponsive to medical treatment.”

He was discovered at about 12.50pm and police have appealed for anyone who might have seen the Seat leave the carriageway or in the embankment.
