Motorists warned of disruption during A57 works

MOTORISTS have been warned of night-time disruption on one of the borough’s busiest roads.

Repairs to the A57 Worksop Road in North Anston will start on Monday, April 3, and are expected to take 11 weeks.

Work will be done between 8.30pm and 5.30am on the stretch of road between the Sheffield Road junction, near Anston cemetery, and Lindrick Dale.

Colin Knight, Rotherham Borough Council’s head of highways, said: “This section of the A57 is very heavily used, with more than 18,000 vehicles a day passing through it. This has taken its toll on the condition of the road.

“During the work, there will be a reduced speed limit in place, traffic lights in operation and convoy working will also be used to move road users past the works at a safe speed.

“We apologise for any inconvenience to residents and motorists, but we hope that by carrying out the work overnight, disruption will be minimised.”
