Motorists warned of Catcliffe roadworks

MOTORISTS are being warned about roadworks using traffic lights which could cause congestion in Catcliffe.

The second phase of work to connect the Waverley housing development to the main water and sewerage system will start on October 6 .

So far 450 metres of water main have been laid along Main Street and Rotherham Road, with a small section expected to take until early October to complete.

Sewer firm BarhaleWSP will begin to lay 1160 metres of sewer along Poplar Way in ten days’ time.

A spokesman said they aimed to minimise disruption by confiing most of thwe work to grass verges but added that sections between Orgreave Road and Whitby's fish and chip restaurant would require two-way traffic lights.

Work to lay the new sewer is expected to completed early next year but businesses along Poplar Way will remain open as usual.

A final section of water main is expected to be laid along Orgreave Road later this year.
