The night-time closures, which will start on Monday, March 14, are necessary to allow for resurfacing work as part of the current programme to install traffic lights at the junction on Rotherham's highway network.

Access to the ASDA supermarket and McDonalds restaurant will remain normal along the A6123 Aldwarke Lane heading from Parkgate only.

The entrance to the site from the A630 Doncaster Road will also be closed with a diversion set up to guide motorists to the entrance on Aldwarke Lane.

Access will also be maintained along the A6123 Herringthorpe Valley Road as far as the Peter Brookes Honda garage, where motorists can turn into the old Doncaster Road and access East Dene.

Motorists are warned to expect delays when passing through the roundabout during the planned resurfacing works.

The installation of lights on the roundabout is geared to ease congestion, improve bus journey times and provide enhanced pedestrian and cycle facilities at the junction, which currently experiences bad congestion, particularly at peak periods.

The scheme, which is being carried out by Rotherham Borough Council, is expected to be complete by June this year.
