Moore: Keep up the good work

DELIGHTED Rotherham United manager Ronnie Moore hailed his side’s determination after Josh Walker’s late goal sank Bury—but urged them not to rest on their laurels.

The Millers boss was relieved after the 1-0 win at Don Valley on Saturday kept his team’s promotion push on track but and urged his players to put in another good performance against Macclesfield tomorrow night.

“To a man today I thought we played well, with some decent stuff at times,” Moore said.

“If it was a boxing match we just about shaded it. I’m just pleased with the performance apart from anything.

“We had to be at our best defending and I thought we did that.

“We’ve got to make sure we capitalise on what we’ve done today.

“It’s not enough just to get ourselves up for the Bury game.

“We’ve got to have the same attitude against Macclesfield and if we do we’ll be OK.”

Moore also praised Middlesbrough loanee Walker, who popped up with the winner with ten minutes left, beating his man on the edge of the box and lashing left-footed beyond Shakers stopper Wayne Brown.

“We’ve been trying to walk things in but we’ve got players like him who can strike a ball and have a decent shot on them,” Moore said.

“I’ve nothing but praise from the keeper through to the strikers.”

United were forced to make an early change when Nick Fenton was injured but his replacement, Pablo Mills, put in a solid defensive shift alongside Ian Sharps.

“You’re always worried when your centre backs get injured but we brought Pabs in there and he did well,” he said.

“We’ve only lost three games here. I know we’ve drawn a few, maybe too many but we’ve been in the games and not got the breaks. Today we got the breaks.

“We’ve had a little bit of luck there but maybe we deserved it.”
