Monster cactus charity auction

The 38-year-old plant will be auctioned to support the Whiston Charity Garden Walkabout tomorrow (July 12) and Sunday.

Gardens and allotments will be opened up in the community to raise funds for the Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice and SAFE@LAST charities.

For a £2.50 admission fee per family, visitors can venture along a route between 4 Stafford Drive in Moorgate and Revel House on Doles Lane to see what floral wonders are on show.

Tickets can be bought in advance from the chemist shop in Whiston.

The garden walkabout will take place from 11am to 4pm on both days.

The monster cactus will be on show at 4 Stafford Drive during the event in advance of the auction.

Joanne Holsey, who is involved in the organisation of the event, said: “The cactus is not tall but it looks a bit of a monster.”
