Mock interviews help prepare students for job market

HUNDREDS of teenagers have been taking tips on how to land their dream job from some of the biggest names in Rotherham business.

More than 260 pupils at Wath Comprehensive School went through mock interviews with a choice of nearly 30 different advisors from employers including Rotherham Borough Council, local banks and other businesses, Rotherham Rotary Club and the communications industry.

The project, run by housing provider Guinness Northern Counties and the school, is aimed at giving students an insight into the interview process and help them gain the confidence and practical skills they will need to handle job applications and interviews.

It was set up because the number of young people in Rotherham who are neither in employment, education or training is higher than the national average.
