ROTHERHAM shoppers were upbeat about the Millers’ return to the town when reporter TAYYAB KHAN visited the town centre yesterday to get their views.

Tim Naylor (46), of Rawmarsh, said: "I have been a fan of the club for 40 years and I'm a season ticket holder.

“I think it's absolutely fantastic, brilliant and couldn't be better. it's right in the centre which is great for the town and it'll bring it back to life."

James Tune (45), of Canklow, said: "It'll make kids go—it should be in our town. I'm not a football fan but Rotherham United should be in Rotherham.”

Carron (24) and Rachael Shaw (28), of Masbrough, said: "We thought it was horrible that Rotherham fans have to traipse all the way to Don Valley and when they get there it’s far too cold, too far from the game and not even in Rotherham.

“We'll be glad to see it back where it belongs."

Leslie Skelton (84), of Broom, said: "It's absolutely ideal putting it into the centre, the more central the better for the club.

“I used to be a major fan in the 50s and 60s and it should have been kept in Rotherham.”

Renee Roebuck (66), of Rockingham, joked: "I think it’s great they’re going to put it there, because it's right opposite the police station.”

James Davies (25), of East Herringthorpe, said: "I've been a Rotherham fan all of my 25 years—it's much better here than playing all games away in Sheffield and I think it'll bring something back to Rotherham.

“Since the team’s gone it's like the town was dying a bit. I used to go regular to the games at Milmoor, but it's like I've lost interest since they left."

Sarah Williamson (28), who was with Caroline Keeling (27), and Joseph Hull (2), said: "I think it's a great idea. We're not big football fans but it's great for those that are."
