Mexborough voting cards hold-up as poll looms

COUNCIL staff have been forced to hand deliver polling cards less than 48 hours before the local elections.

Some residents in Mexborough had still not received their cards on Tuesday as a result of “postal issues.”

A spokeswoman for Doncaster Council said: “We’re aware there’s a very small area of Mexborough that might have experienced a small delay.

“We’re rectifying this by hand-delivering these polling cards today.

“We’re not aware of any further widespread issues or problems.”

The spokeswoman also reminded residents that as long as they are already on the electoral register they can vote without their card.

She added: “Residents who can’t find or haven’t received their poll card can still go along to their normal polling station and vote on Thursday.”

Polling stations open on Thursday at 7am until 10pm.
