Mexborough teenager pleads not guilty to terrorism offence

A TEENAGER from Mexborough has pleaded not guilty to a terrorism offence after appearing in court this morning (Wednesday).

Jack Coulson (18), of Roman Gardens, Mexborough, appeared at Westminster Magistrates’ Court charged with one offence under Section 58 of the Terrorism Act.

Coulson, who appeared via videolink from Leeds Magistrates’ Court, entered a not guilty plea to the offence alleged to have been committed between January 3 and 20 this year.

He was remanded in custody and will next appear at the Old Bailey on March 1.

A spokeswoman from Counter Terrorism Policing North East said Coulson was arrested on Tuesday from his home on suspicion of possessing a record or document that may be useful to a person committing or preparing an act of terrorism.

She added the plea was only an indication of plea at this stage.
