He was remanded in custody and will next appear at the Old Bailey on March 1.

A spokeswoman from Counter Terrorism Policing North East said Coulson was arrested on Tuesday from his home on suspicion of possessing a record or document that may be useful to a person committing or preparing an act of terrorism.

She added the plea was only an indication of plea at this stage.
