Mexborough hosts Ted Hughes’ paper trail

POETRY fans are being invited to join a special performance trail on Saturday (Nov 16) that celebrates writer Ted Hughes and his connection with the county.

The former Poet Laureate spent 13 years in Mexborough and author Steve Ely has written a book that sheds light on this era.

Steve has collaborated with performance maker Dominic Somers from Right Up Our Street Mexborough to create Ted Hughes’ Paper Round- A Performance Trail.

Attendees will explore some of the important locations that influenced the poet and there will also be guest contributions from poets Ian Parks and Ed Reiss.

The event is the first in a series that aims to re-forge the connection between Ted and Mexborough.

The trail is open to all, no booking is required, but appropriate outdoor clothing for the bad weather is advised.
