Metal bar attack during robbery at Rotherham newsagents

A ROBBERY at a Rotherham convenience store left a woman with head injuries after she was attacked with a metal bar.

Police are appealing for witnesses following the incident on Wellgate on Wednesday at around 5.45pm.

A man entered Mannins and attacked the woman working in the store with what is believed to be a metal bar.

The till and its contents were stolen.

Det Sgt Andy Shields said: “We are in the early stages of the investigation and are conducting numerous enquiries in relation to the incident.

“The victim attended hospital but has since returned home after treatment for her injuries.

“I would urge anyone who may have been in the area at the time or who may have witnessed the robbery to please come forward, either by calling police on 101 or anonymously contacting Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”

Anyone who can help should quote incident number 803 of January 10.
