Meals off the menu at Rotherham Hospital restaurant

ROTHERHAM Hospital’s Rooftop restaurant will close during evenings and weekends because of a decline in demand.

The diner, run by caterers ISS for the Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust, will have its hours cut from September 1.

Following discussions with staff, it has been decided to close at weekends and from 2pm from Monday to Friday.

A trust spokeswoman said: “Analysis has shown very limited use of the restaurant at certain times.

“In these challenging economic times, neither the trust nor ISS can sustain a service that is under-utilised.”

She added: “Staff, visitors and patients will still be able to access hot food and drink through vending facilities within the dining area.

“Hot and cold drinks and food are also available, during opening hours, from the range of retail outlets within the main entrance of the hospital and through various other vending facilities located within the building.

“It is important to stress that these changes will have no effect on the meals provided to inpatients.”
