MBE for former Wickersley pupil

A FORMER Wickersley resident has been awarded an MBE for services to education in the 2010 Queen's Birthday Honours List.

Alison Devine, who attended Wickersley Comprehensive school from 1975 to1982, has worked for the British Council for the past 18 years in Japan, Greece,Malaysia, the United Arab Emirates and has recently been appointed as Director of the British Council in Taiwan.

Eric Devine, Alison's father, said: “We are very proud of Alison's achievement. “She works incredibly hard and it is great to see her diligence rewarded.”

Mr Devine lives in Wickersley is a retired teacher, while other daughter, Lindsay, lives in New Zealand.
